KGC's Vision
To nurture and challenge the gifted learner
KGC's Mission
We engage gifted students through accelerated coursework while fostering opportunities to explore their passions.
KGC is REINVENTING school this year. We get it! Some students haven't been in a school building for 18 months. Our faculty and staff aim to continue to utilize what worked in virtual classes for students who thrived in that setting while ensuring safety first for in-person learning across the grade levels. A sense of belonging is achieved by social connection, and with this mindset, cognitive growth is supported.
Some of the ways we help students belong at Kilgore is encouraging spirit by wearing blue and silver on Fridays, incorporating monthly club days, hosting student of the month celebrations, and of course, the end of the year Staff vs. Student basketball game. We're introducing Homebase this year so students will have a staff member in the building that's consistent. If you have any suggestions for how to help students at KGC feel that they belong and are at home in these freshly painted walls, please reach out to the Climate and Culture team leaders Jami Parsons and Sam Demyanyuk.
